Jatoba Hardwood Clifftop Deck – Swanage, Dorset

Project Overview

We recently completed this Jatoba hardwood deck at a clifftop property in Swanage, Dorset, overlooking the open sea towards the Purbeck coastline.

The deck sits within an existing stone-walled enclosure, surrounded by coastal planting, with unobstructed views across the water. The Jatoba boards are freshly oiled and the grain and colour of the timber speak for themselves against that backdrop.

The support posts are Millboard Plas-Pro recycled plastic, which means no timber makes contact with the ground. In a coastal environment where salt air and moisture are constant, that matters. The structure underneath will not rot, and the Jatoba decking above is one of the hardest and most durable hardwoods available for outdoor use. The two together make for a deck that is well suited to the exposure of this particular site.
