At Minster Decking, we believe in the quality of our work and the materials we use. That’s why we offer a comprehensive 15-Year Installation Guarantee on all our decking projects. This guarantee is designed to give you peace of mind, knowing that your deck will stand the test of time when properly maintained.

What Our Guarantee Covers

Our 15-Year Installation Guarantee is divided into two key sections: Framing and Decking Boards, to align with the warranties provided by our material suppliers.

All materials we use have a minimum 15-year manufacturer's guarantee, and we match this with our 15-year installation guarantee to give you additional peace of mind. Because of the advanced installation methods we use, our decks are expected to last far longer than 15 years, but 15 years is the bare minimum we guarantee our decking installations for. 

How Our Guarantee Works

• Easy and Transparent: If any issues arise due to our installation within the 15-year period, we will resolve them at no additional cost to you, provided all maintenance guidelines have been followed.
• Complimentary Inspections: We offer free inspections during the guarantee period to identify and address any potential issues early.
• Claim Process: All claims are subject to an inspection by Minster Decking to ensure compliance with the guarantee terms. We reserve the right to approve or deny claims based on our findings.

 

1. Framing: Joists and Posts

We use robust materials for the framing of your deck, ensuring a strong and long-lasting foundation.

• UC4 Treated Timber Joists: Covered by a 15-year warranty against rot and insect attack for in-ground contact use cases, our UC4 treated timber joists are expected to last far longer as we only use the UC4 posts for above ground contact use cases (joists, rather than in-ground posts), meaning they are expected to far surpass the 15-year minimum warranty.
• Millboard PlasPro Posts: Made from 100% recycled plastic, these posts are highly resistant to rot and decay, providing a long-lasting solution. Though no formal warranty is specified by the manufacturer, experience shows us that these posts far surpass the lifespan of the UC4 timber joists for in-ground contact purposes, and so we extend a 15-year guarantee to the PlasPro posts too. As they are made of extremely robust plastic composite, they are expected to last far longer than 15 years, there is no reason for them to fail due to weather, moisture or insect attacks.

2. Decking Boards

The surface of your deck experiences the most wear, so we ensure that only the highest quality materials are used.

• Ipe Hardwood: This durable hardwood, also known as Brazilian Walnut, typically lasts for 70 years with proper maintenance, and comes with a minimum 25-year formal warranty when installed correctly, making it an excellent choice for longevity. 
• Yellow Balau (Bangkirai) Hardwood: Known for its strength and resistance to decay and insects, Yellow Balau can last over 50 years with proper maintenance, although formal warranties may vary.
• UC4 Treated Softwood Decking: Like the joists, this material is covered by a 15-year warranty, offering reliable resistance to rot and insects.
• Millboard Decking Boards: These premium boards come with a 25-year warranty, depending on the specific product line, ensuring long-lasting beauty and durability.
• Storm Deckorators Decking: Backed by a 25-year comprehensive warranty, this material covers aspects such as structural integrity, stain resistance, and fade resistance.

Exclusions to the Guarantee

To maintain the integrity of your guarantee and protect your investment, certain conditions and exclusions apply:

• Excluded Materials: Decking materials without a formal manufacturer warranty, such as Jatoba hardwood, are not covered under this guarantee.
• Maintenance Requirements: The guarantee is contingent upon proper maintenance of the deck. This includes:
  • Hardwood Decking: Annual oiling or staining with a UV-protective finish and regular cleaning to maintain the deck’s colour and prevent cracking or warping.
  • Softwood Decking: Annual application of a water-repellent stain or paint, along with annual cleaning to prevent rot and decay.
• Other Exclusions: Our guarantee does not cover:
  • Damage from natural disasters, accidents, or misuse.
  • Issues arising from improper maintenance or failure to maintain the decking as recommended.
  • Normal wear and tear, including minor cracks, colour changes, or surface wear due to foot traffic.
  • Modifications made by third parties not authorised by Minster Decking Ltd.
