Project Overview
We recently completed a stylish composite decking installation in Lilliput, Poole, using Millboard Enhanced Grain decking in Vintage to create a warm and inviting outdoor relaxation space.
The deck was designed around a hot tub positioned beneath a sleek aluminium pergola, creating a sheltered area perfect for unwinding throughout the year. Surrounding the space is Millboard Vintage shadow line cladding, used to clad a raised sleeper wall that borders the deck.
Together, the decking, pergola, and cladding create a cohesive and luxurious outdoor setting that blends modern design with the natural character of the surrounding landscaped garden.
Key Project Highlights:
A Relaxing Hot Tub Retreat
The centrepiece of this project is the hot tub relaxation area, framed by the composite decking and sheltered by a contemporary aluminium pergola.
This layout creates a comfortable space where the homeowners can enjoy their hot tub while surrounded by the warm tones and natural texture of the Millboard Vintage decking. The pergola adds structure and definition to the space while also offering protection from the elements, allowing the area to be enjoyed throughout the seasons.
Premium Materials with a Robust Structure
To ensure long-term durability, the decking was installed on a DuoSpan aluminium sub-frame.
This system provides exceptional strength and stability while being completely resistant to rot, moisture, and ground contact issues. Combined with Millboard’s Enhanced Grain composite boards, the result is a deck that offers the beauty of natural timber without the maintenance demands.
The boards are slip-resistant, splinter-free, and highly durable, making them an ideal choice for barefoot use around a hot tub.
Seamless Integration with the Garden Landscape
A defining feature of this project is the sleeper wall clad in Millboard Vintage shadow line cladding, which wraps around the deck and hot tub area.
This cladding conceals the raised planting beds behind it, allowing the natural greenery to frame the space while maintaining a clean and cohesive design. The consistent use of the Vintage finish across both decking and cladding ties the entire area together beautifully.
The result is a peaceful garden environment where the decking feels naturally embedded within the surrounding landscape - creating a private and tranquil place to relax after a long day.
