Project Overview
In this recent project in Ferndown, Dorset, our client sought a deck that would blend seamlessly with their outdoor space while offering the durability and low maintenance that only a composite deck can provide. The solution? A stunning low-level patio deck using Millboard Weathered Oak decking in the Vintage colour. This choice perfectly captured the client's desire for a naturalistic look, while also ensuring that their deck remains beautiful and maintenance-free for years to come.
Materials and Construction
To support the decking, we constructed the subframe using Plas Pro 50x50 recycled plastic posts. This eco-friendly material provides a strong, durable foundation that is resistant to rot and decay, making it an excellent choice for any outdoor installation. Unlike traditional timber, Plas Pro eliminates concerns about wood coming into contact with the ground, ensuring the deck’s longevity and stability.
The Millboard Weathered Oak decking in the Vintage colour adds a rustic yet classic look to the patio. This deck board was specifically chosen for its realistic wood grain finish, which mimics the appearance of natural timber without the associated upkeep. The Vintage colour offers a warm, inviting tone that enhances the aesthetic appeal of the outdoor space, making it a perfect complement to the garden's natural elements.
A Seamless Indoor-Outdoor Connection
One of the highlights of this project is the glass room installed over the decking, which creates a seamless connection between the indoors and outdoors. The glass structure provides a sheltered space where the client can enjoy the beauty of their garden year-round, regardless of the weather. The Weathered Oak decking further enhances this connection by bringing the natural look of wood into the space, blurring the lines between the home’s interior and the surrounding environment.
This project is a perfect example of how Millboard decking can transform an outdoor area into a functional, low-maintenance extension of the home.
