Project Overview
For this project, our client envisioned a sophisticated yet minimalistic outdoor space that seamlessly integrates with the natural surroundings of their home. To bring this vision to life, we selected Millboard Enhanced Grain Composite Decking in Smoked Oak as the primary material, paired with a Millboard Enhanced Grain Composite Decking in Brushed Basalt picture frame to accentuate the edges and create a striking visual contrast. The grey tones of the decking beautifully complement the greenery around the deck, making it a serene and stylish addition to the garden.
Materials and Construction
We built the deck using a robust C24, UC4 pressure-treated timber subframe. This subframe not only provides a strong foundation but also ensures longevity, as it's designed to withstand the elements and resist decay. This timber lasts 4+ years IN GROUND CONTACT, so when used ABOVE ground contact as a subframe, the lifespan is significantly increased.
For added durability, we used Plas Pro 100x100 recycled plastic posts instead of traditional timber to create the subframe posts that provide the below-ground decking foundations. This eco-friendly choice eliminates any concerns about timber coming into contact with the ground, reducing the risk of rot and extending the deck’s lifespan.
The final structure is a raised deck with steps, carefully designed to offer both functionality and aesthetic appeal. The raised design provides an elevated perspective of the garden, while the steps offer easy access, making it a practical solution for any outdoor space.
