Raised Split-Level Lodge Deck – Merley House Holiday Park

Project Overview:

In this project, we were tasked with transforming a decaying wooden deck into a durable, modern outdoor space at a lodge within Merley House Holiday Park.

The original deck had suffered significant rot over time and required replacement with a more robust, low-maintenance solution. The client sought a long-lasting, stylish deck that would enhance the lodge’s aesthetic while providing a functional outdoor area. And that's exactly what we provided.

Mocha Espresso Composite Decking

To replace the rotting wood, we installed composite decking in Mocha Espresso, which offers the look of natural wood but with superior durability and resistance to rot, insects, and weather.

The rich, warm tones of the Mocha Espresso boards beautifully complement the lodge’s surroundings, providing a sleek, modern look while maintaining a natural feel.

These composite decking boards require zero maintenance and never need sealing or staining to maintain their beauty or integrity. Simply brush off any build-up that occurs on the surface, and they're as good as new!

Powder-Coated Aluminium Balustrade System

The deck is enclosed with a powder-coated aluminium balustrade system, chosen for its strength, low maintenance, and clean design. The powder-coated finish ensures long-term resistance to weather and corrosion, making it ideal for outdoor use.

The balustrade adds a modern touch while ensuring safety without detracting from the stunning views around the lodge.

Design and Feature considerations

The raised split-level deck was designed to create a seamless connection between the lodge and the surrounding landscape. The split-level design enhances the functionality of the outdoor space, offering distinct areas for relaxation and entertainment. The deck’s elevation also allows for better views of the holiday park’s scenic surroundings, while the use of composite decking ensures minimal upkeep for the client.

This deck not only replaced the old, rotting structure but also improved the layout with thoughtful alterations. The updated design maximized the outdoor space, turning it into a practical and visually appealing feature for the lodge.
